One thing about Drake, he can be generous with his coins! But beyond generous, the artist is also considerate of who benefits from his donated funds. In collaboration with Stake, an online casino sports gambling site that uses bitcoin, Drake and LeBron planned a charitable night at Toronto’s steakhouse Harbour 60.
The original plan was to gift a $100,000 to a high school athlete and his mother. The student Michael attends Toronto’s Royal Crown Academy. This moment was inspired by Drake’s recent big win on Stake.
“Anytime I get blessed like that, I always think it’s good karma that needs to be transferred,” Champagne Papi let folks know in the more than three-minutes-long video.
But the mother and son weren’t the only folks to receive that good karma. Drake came through on some funds for LeBron’s own community efforts.
And this won’t be the first nor second time Drake has padded pockets. While vacationing in Turks & Caicos recently, Drake and Jack Harlow surprised folks with some extra spending money. Also, you may recall his 2018 ‘God’s Plan’ music video, which showed Drake gifting his million-dollar budget to families, individuals and institutions in need.
Well, he recently dropped another million dollars on charitable matters.
Apparently, the Canadian rapper plans to cut the hefty check to LeBron James’ I PROMISE school. Not only that, the rapper said he personally plans to drop off the funds “before the school year is over.”
“This man asked me a very important question, which is what actually makes you feel rich in the soul at this level,” Drake said while pointing to someone off-camera. “I’ve been trying to figure out what I can do in this moment.”
In a short video, Drake told LeBron the donation news, adding that Stake owner Eddie Miroslav is also sponsoring the donation. Drake has previously posted about the site on his Instagram page.
If you weren’t aware, the NBA star opened his own school in his hometown Akron, Ohio in 2018. The school primarily serves students who “are already falling behind and in danger of falling through the cracks.” LeBron is listed as the vice principal on the school’s site.
“Wow, wow, wow, oh man appreciate it,” LeBron responded to Drake while embracing him. “Sh*t my kids gon go crazy when they hear this.”
