Last week Donovan Mitchell was the second NBA player to test positive for the coronavirus. His teammate, Rudy Gobert was the first, and their diagnosis sent shockwaves throughout the league and to their fans.
On Monday, Donovan talked with Robin Roberts via video chat while in isolation to give an update on his condition.
When asked how he was feeling, he said, āIām fine, things are going well. Just in isolation, I got a unique setup. Got no fever, no symptoms as of right now and just blessed to be okay. Right now, the biggest thing for me is to just stay in isolation and just keep to myself.”
As he continued to reassure that he was okay, Donovan continued, “I have no symptoms which is a unique — when people ask me I would say if you were to tell me I could play in a seven-game series tomorrow, I would be ready to lace up. I’m just blessed to be able to be okay.”
Although he is currently isolated, Donovan is still trying to do his part to help the students in the Salt Lake community. He revealed that he is working on a partnership that will help to provide the students with meals while they are out of school due to the virus.
“I’m working on a partnership with the Salt Lake Granite School District, that’s about 88 to 90 schools, about 66,000 kids, just being able to provide them meals. That particular school district in Salt Lake City is home to some of the most vulnerable children,” he said.
