Donald Trump’s campaign looked to get the support of many black leaders after he announced last week he would be meeting with ” a coalition of 100 African-American Evangelical pastors and religious leaders.”
Turns out things didn’t go quite as planned, because many of them backed out or said they never had intentions of endorsing Trump in the first place.
What was intended to be a large press conference, became a small group meeting held at his Trump Tower in NYC. The meeting was said not to be an endorsement for Trump, but rather just a discussion.
After the meeting Trump said ” I love what I saw in that room. I see love everywhere I go.”
The backlash most likely came from Trump bashing the Black Lives Matter Movement. Trump was asked at the press conference to address the Black Lives Matter Movement and he said he had no interest going there.
