Donald Trump Addresses Assassination Attempt At RNC
During his speech, Trump said, “I’m not supposed to be here tonight,” seemingly addressing the Pennslyvania shooting. The crowd began to chant, “Yes, you are!” After they quieted, the 78-year-old continued, “Thank you, but I’m not. I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of Almighty God.”
His supporters cheered in response. Trump added, “…watching the reports over the past few days, many people say it was a providential moment. Probably was…”
Donald stopped in the middle of his speech and walked over to a helmet and firefighter gear that was propped on stage. The uniform reportedly belonged to Corey Comperatore, who was killed during the failed assassination attempt against Trump in Pennsylvania. The presidential nominee kissed the helmet before returning to the podium to finish his speech.
Note that reports later pointed out that the name of the deceased on the jacket was spelled wrong.
Trump Makes Promises To The American People
Trump listed several actions he planned to take if reelected. He stated, “I make this pledge to the great people of America. I will end the devastating inflation prices. Bring down interest rates and lower the cost of energy.” He promised, “We will drill baby drill.”
” …To achieve this future, we must first rescue our nation from failed and even incompetent leadership. We have totally incompetent leadership. This will be the most important election in the history of our country. Under the current administration, we are indeed a nation in decline.” Donald stated.
“We have an inflation crisis that is making life unaffordable. Ravaging the incomes of working and low-income families and… crushing our people like never before. They’ve never seen anything like it,” Donald said.
Trump received several standing ovations throughout his speech, which lasted more than an hour and a half. As Donnie concluded his message, he led his supporters to chant his campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
His wife, Melania, joined him on stage, seemingly surprising him. He kissed her multiple times on the cheek, and they walked the stage hand-in-hand.
Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, were also present. Red, white, and blue balloons dropped from the arena’s ceiling.
