Now you guys know that battles between some of our favorites are the latest trend, and thanks to Swizz Beatz and Timbaland for laying the blueprint and starting the trend, it’s now becoming the new normal.
During a recent interview with N.O.R.E for his “Drink Champs,” podcast, DMX was asked, who could he see himself going up against if he were to do a “Verzuz” battle, and after thinking about it for a second, he said that Jay would be someone he could see himself battling.
When N.O.R.E wanted to reassure that he was talking about the Jay-Z that we all are familiar with, DMX said, “Yeah who you think n*gga.”
However, according to Complex, if Jay-Z and DMX were to face off in a “Verzuz” battle that wouldn’t be their first time battling each other. Back in the day Jay-Z and DMX faced off in a rap battle. There is very little footage of the battle, however, there is a clip of Jay-Z’s verse in the battle.
Nonetheless, there is no doubt that both DMX and Jay-Z are definitely legends when it comes to the rap game, and they both made a major impact on the industry as they both dropped classic albums throughout the years.
It also looks like fans would definitely be here for a Jay-Z and DMX battle as well.
One fan said, “Look…Jay-Z vs DMX on Verzuz?? I would’ve never thought of it, but this could be really good!! I’m here for it.”
As you already know, legends Babyface and Teddy Riley already had a successful “Verzuz” battle, and Jill Scott and Erykah Badu are the first female artists scheduled to face off this weekend.
