Actor #StoneyWestmoreland has been fired by the #DisneyChannel after he was arrested by police in #SaltLakeCity, according to Disney officials.
Police allege that 48-year-old Westmoreland, who had a recurring role on the Disney Channel show #AndiMack, used a dating app to chat with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old boy. The probable cause affidavit stated that the actor used the app to send explicit pictures and to arrange a meeting for sex, @CNN reports.
When Westmoreland arrived at the alleged arranged spot, he was arrested by Salt Lake City Police and members of the #FBI Child Exploitation Task Force. Police records show that Westmoreland was arrested on charges including attempting to entice, seduce or lure a minor by internet or text. He’s also facing four counts of dealing in materials harmful to minors.
“Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week,” said the Disney Channel statement.
He is most known for his role of Ham Mack, the main character’s grandfather in “Andi Mack”. He appeared in 38 episodes. The show is a coming-of-age comedy-drama that follows the middle school adventures of a 13-year-old girl and her friends. The series is filmed in Utah.
Westmoreland has also appeared in eight episodes of the show “Scandal” as Secret Service agent Hal Rimbeau. His other TV credits include “NCIS,” “Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul,” and “Gilmore Girls,” according to his IMDB page.
It wasn’t immediately clear if he was still locked up as of Sunday and Westmoreland has not made a public comment on the case.
