TSR Updatez: Words have consequences but apparently Donald Trump won’t own up to his following reports that poison control centers in several states saw a spike in calls involving people ingesting household cleaners.
The rise in emergency calls was recorded after Trump suggested injecting disinfectant as a potential solution to treat coronavirus patients during a White House briefing. He later said those comments were meant to be sarcastic but it didn’t stop the makers of several household cleaners from issuing warnings against using their products for anything other than cleaning.
Well, a reporter recently tried to press the issue with Trump regarding that spike in cases and Donnie denied any responsibility for what has transpired.
“I can’t imagine why,” he repeated over and over when a reporter asked Trump if he takes any responsibility for the uptick in calls.
Calls to poison control centers in Illinois, Maryland, Michigan and New York City have spiked since Thursday, with people reporting exposure to household cleaners and disinfectants, according to Forbes.
On Sunday, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Maryland Governor Larry Hogan said calls to emergency hotlines in their states spiked, following Trump’s dangerous suggestion.
“We have seen an increase in numbers of people calling poison control, and so I think it’s really important that every one of us with a platform disseminate medically accurate information,” Whitmer told ABC News, while Hogan told the network that his state’s emergency hotline had received “hundreds” of calls since Thursday.
Things got so real that Maryland’s emergency management agency had to issue a statement urging people not to ingest disinfectant in any way.
We previously reported that at least 30 New Yorkers reportedly ingested household cleaners within the 18-hour period following Trump’s initial briefing on the matter.
Trump may try to act like this one didn’t happen but the fallout continues. We’ll keep you posted.
