On the show’s premiere episode, Carter sits down with television host and journalist Don Lemon. The former news anchor openly dishes about his life after CNN, interracial marriage, the current state of politics and his new series, ‘The Don Lemon Show.’
Tune into the new series below.
Don Lemon Opens Up About Being In An Interracial Relationship
During the interview, Don Lemon recalled knowing that he wanted to marry his husband, Tim Malone, from the moment they were engaged in 2019.
According to ABC, the couple officially tied the knot with a star-studded New York City ceremony in April 2024. Although Lemon is happily married, he revealed that he thinks the comments about his relationship are ignorant.
The television journalist told Carter that he’s received a lot of backlash for being in an interracial relationship, but he’s unfazed because he’s truly happy.
“I see it online with people who say oh he married a white guy from white people, but I also see it more from African Americans actually and to me it’s just ignorance. You love who you love, you fall in love with who you fall in love with. But it just so happens I fell in love with him and that’s who I married and that’s it. And people should be able to love who they love. I’m not in anybody’s business. No one should be telling me who I should be marrying. And especially people who have been discriminated against should know better,” Lemon stated.
Don Talks Politics On ‘Dishin’ It’
Don made sure to share his thoughts about the current state of politics while chatting with Justin. Lemon stated that we are in a very “pivotal” time right now ahead of the 2024 presidential election. The reporter explained that he doesn’t think President Biden is too old to be running for president.
He also further stated that we are in unusual times amidst Donald Trump’s trial and guilty verdict.
“To be sitting in this position where you have a president who has four court cases and I think like 84 counts or charges against him, it’s an usual place to sit in. It’s unusual times for us. And someone that doesn’t believe in democracy and who is telling us that if he does become president again that he’s going to be a dictator. We’re at a very pivotal time right now and I feel very fortunate and blessed to be in a position where I can say my sh*t about it and not have to worry about whether someone is going to be mad. “ Lemon explained.
