Chile! Gospel singer Earnest Pugh had everyone wondering about Cissy Houston, the late Whitney Houston’s mother, yesterday after he shared that she passed away. The ‘Rain On Us’ singer wrote on Instagram, “Rest in peace Cissy Houston.” The post caused hysteria as people didn’t know what to believe. However, Cissy’s niece Dionne Warwick has clapped back at Earnest, denying all claims.
She took to Twitter to write, “My Aunt Cissy is very much alive. This Earnest Pugh needs to get a life and stay out of other peoples lives!” Kim Burrell also called Earnest out on Facebook for sharing the false news. She commented, “Fortunately, this is not the truth. Please respect her life as she continues to live. She’s home. Thank you all!”
Earnest wasted no time and responded to Dionne by sharing a screenshot apologizing for spreading false information. He tweeted, “Ms. Warwick please accept my sincere apologies for reposting such an accurate info about Mother Cissy Houston. It was a “knee- jerk “reaction to a post I saw about someone I love dearly.” The Emmy award winning singer continued, “I mean no ill intent whatsoever and I take full accountability for my actions. You and the Houston family are forever in my thoughts and prayers. May God continue to shower bountiful blessings upon Mother Cissy. Respectfully submitted. #Respect”
While many understood why Dionne clapped back, they weren’t mad at her. One commented, “Auntie Warwick gon clear ’em every single time.” Some Roommates showed Earnest grace for such a sincere apology. One commented, “I think it was an honest mistake. His apology seems sincere.”
Earnest is using the newfound attention to promote his latest album, ‘The E Factor: Best Of Earnest Pugh.’
Roommates, do you think his apology was sincere?
