#Roommates, Diddy has many reasons to celebrate these days. After throwing a star-studded, lavish 50th birthday party attended by a host of A-list celebrities, he can now prepare to receive a very distinguished honor at the upcoming 2020 Grammy Awards.
When it comes to iconic careers in the music industry few are as impressive as Diddy’s. From former record label intern to 3-time Grammy Award-winning artist, producer and founder of Bad Boy Records—he is one of the pioneers of his era. Now, @Billboard reports that he is set to be honored at the 2020 Grammy Awards by being the recipient of the “Salute To Industry Icons” award that will be given to him at the annual pre-Grammy party on January 25th.
In addition to winning Grammys, Diddy has also made an impression on the music charts, which is just another example of why he was chosen for such a highly regarded honor. His label Bad Boy had at least 70 albums on the Billboard 200 and more than 100 songs on the Hot 100 during its prime. His empire also includes clothing, beverages, philanthropic work, political activism, film and TV. As an artist, Diddy has five number ones on the Billboard Hot 100 and 15 Top 10s on the same chart.
Speaking about the Grammy recognition, Diddy had this to say:
“Clive Davis and Arista Records gave me a chance when I was starting Bad Boy Records, he was one of the first industry executives to really believe in me. I’m forever grateful for him. To be honored at this year’s pre-Grammy Gala and receive the Industry Icons Award is truly a blessing.”
Clive Davis, co-host of the pre-Grammy gala, spoke highly of Diddy in a statement:
“It’s personally so gratifying that Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs is this year’s icon. He fully deserves this wonderful recognition. From his past innovative and creative contributions right from the very inception of the hip hop revolution, to his many memorable appearances at the pre-Grammy Gala as both speaker and performer, it’s all come full circle. I couldn’t be happier for Sean as a dear friend and colleague.”
Congrats Diddy!
