Diddy has remained in headlines following the release of the gut-wrenching video of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie, formerly known as Cassandra Ventura. The surveillance footage obtained by CNN has sparked several reactions and even led social media users to dig up past receipts on the Bad Boy Records founder.
The footage of the former couple has caused social media to resurface his speech at the 2022 BET Awards. The media mogul was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual ceremony. While accepting the award, Diddy specifically thanked Cassie and Bishop T.D. Jakes.
“I want to say a special thank you to the people that was like really there for me. And also Cassie for holding me down in the dark times,” Diddy says in the clip.
The now viral clip of Diddy at the BET Awards has caused social media to call him out for his contradicting statements.
Several social media users weighed in on the rapper’s comments from his BET Award speech on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Diddy has officially issued an apology following the release of the assault video. The ‘Gotta Move On’ artist responded to the leaked footage through an Instagram video.
The musician took accountability for his actions and stated that he is committed to becoming a better man.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you gotta do that. I was f****d up. I mean I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry,” Diddy says in the video.
