Last week the 2021 NFL Draft took place and a total of 259 players from colleges around the country were selected to live out their NFL dreams. However, there was one factor that was noticed among the players that were selected during the draft.
On Sunday football legend, Deion Sanders, who is also the coach at Jackson State University, reposted a tweet from The Undefeated that noted, of the players selected during the draft, none of the players came from HBCUs.
Accompanied with the reposted tweet, Deion said, “And we have the Audacity to Hate on one another while our kids are being NEGLECTED & REJECTED. I witnessed a multitude of kids that we played against that were more than qualified to be drafted. My prayers are that This won’t EVER happen again. Get yo knife out my back and fight with me not against me!”
As previously reported, last September it was announced that Deion would be the head coach of Jackson State’s football program.
At the time of the announcement, he said, “I am truly blessed to be the 21st Head football coach of Jackson State University. t’s my desire to continue this storied tradition and history of JSU and prayerfully bring more national recognition to the athletes, the university, the Sonic Boom of the South, and HBCUs in general.”
Shortly after, Deion’s son Shedeur Sanders changed his mind about attending another college and joined him at Jackson State University.
