Dave Chappelle Speaks About George Floyd’s Death In New Special ‘8:46’

As you all know, we all have been living in a hard, but revolutionary time following the recent death of George Floyd. With all of the protests taking place worldwide in response to his death, Dave Chappelle addressed the heartbreaking incident in a new special entitled “8:46” on YouTube and Netflix.

Now we know, eight minutes and forty-six seconds was the amount of time that former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd’s neck as he yelled out that he couldn’t breathe.

Hitting the stage for the first time in 87 days, Dave talked to a socially distanced crowd out in Beavercreek, Ohio, and spoke about what he felt when watching the video of George’s death. Ironically Dave revealed that he was born at 8:46 in the morning, and he was baffled at the fact that was also the amount of time it took for officers to kill George.

Now if anyone has seen a Dave Chappelle show and has gotten to know his style throughout his career, then you know he does not hold his tongue for no one so Azaelia Banks, Candace Owens, and Laura Ingraham were all addressed in the special.

He even addressed Don Lemon, who called out for celebrities to speak out in the wake of the protests.

Dave said, “This is the streets talking for themselves, they don’t need me right now. I kept my mouth shut. And I’ll keep my mouth shut. Don’t think my silence is complicit. Why would anyone care what their favorite comedian thinks after they saw a police officer kneel on a man’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds? I can’t get that number out of my head.”
