#Roommates, Daniel Kaluuya is one of the hottest young actors in Hollywood with a string of hit films already under his belt—but his next project may not be what his fans were expecting. In a recent interview, Daniel confirmed that he is producing a live-action version of the classic 90s kids TV show “Barney & Friends”…with a dark twist.
In an exclusive interview with @EntertainmentWeekly, Daniel Kaluuya surprised his many fans with the news that he is set to tackle a forthcoming live-action version of the popular Barney character that is a childhood favorite of many. Kaluuya is currently signed on as a producer of the project, which is said to feature darker themes that are relevant to the current state of the world.
When asked why he wanted to bring an updated version of Barney to live, Daniel Kaluuya explained it this way:
“Barney taught us, ‘I love you, you love me. Won’t you say you love me too?’ That’s one of the first songs I remember, and what happens when that isn’t true? I thought that was really heartbreaking. I have no idea why but it feels like that makes sense. It feels like there’s something unexpected that can be poignant but optimistic. Especially at this time now, I think that’s really, really needed.”
As of right now, there is no word on if he will actually be starring in the project or will work specifically behind the scenes. However, fans of Kaluuya can look forward to his next project, “Judas and the Black Messiah” about the life of Black Panther founder Fred Hampton—which is slated for an early 2021 release.
