Looks like Dame Dash will have to cough up $805,000 over the ‘Dear Frank’ movie copyright infringement and defamation lawsuit.
The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder lost in court today to director Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures who are responsible for the film ‘Dear Frank.’ The filmmakers sued Dame after alleging he tried to shop and advertise the movie as his own to outlets like BET even though Dame was dropped from the project. They even claim that Dame sent promo material of the movie to outlets, but changed the title to “The List.”
Dame has since responded on Instagram saying “You have to lose some battles to win a war…. stay tuned.”
“Don’t ever say you Directed MY movie.” He continued.
According to TMZ, Dame was supposed to direct the film back in 2016. But Josh and Muddy Waters cut ties with him in 2018, claiming he wasn’t fit for the job because he was often high on set while filming at his Sherman Oaks property. Dame claims that they shot the movie at his house and used his equipment, before stealing the footage to work on it without him.
