The streets have been talking since Lil Duval made an interesting comparison between Ludacris and DaBaby, and while some fans thought he had a point, Baby doesn’t seem to sure.
If y’all recall, Lil Duval tweeted “DaBaby is this generation Ludacris,” and in a recent interview with Billboard, DaBaby said he and Ludacris are two different artists. He did say, however, that he has been inspired by Luda and many other artists of that generation.
“I wouldn’t even say we’re one of the same,” Baby said. “I feel like that’s too commonly used. I think people use that too lightly. I was inspired by Ludacris’ creativity with his music videos. [I was inspired] by a lot of people. Not only Ludacris, but people like Nelly. I mean, everybody.”
Baby explained that he has been inspired by the unique visuals Luda has created over the years, and mentioned Busta Rhymes’ crazy videos as well!
“I feel like as the generations unfold, people from every era was inspired by somebody from the era before them,” he said. “Even when it boils down to 50 Cent, Eminem, and Mystical, everybody’s videos used to be crazy. Busta Rhymes’ videos used to be crazy. So I definitely was inspired by Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, and several other artists with their music videos.”
If y’all have been keeping up with DaBaby’s recent projects, you’ll know he’s been applying pressure when it comes to his music videos. While speaking with Billboard, he said he felt creativity was missing in recent visuals I the rap game.
