Da Brat Defends Jermaine Dupri’s Take On Female Rappers–“You Should Be Thankful The Conversation Is Even Started”

Roommates, Jermaine Dupri’s recent comment regarding today’s female rappers have surely ruffled some feathers. While many are taking offense, Da Brat is coming to his defense!

In an interview with TMZ, Da Brat says JD is definitely on to something. She says female rappers should be happy about the conversation, and JD is about to make magic.

“Everything Jermaine Dupri done strategically,” she says. “He knows what he’s doing, he’s a genius.”

If you don’t remember, JD says Da Brat paved the way for women in the rap game. But when asked about current female rappers, he says they all sound like strippers; a comment Da Brat says is being taken out of context.

Da Brat also attempts to make the point that female rappers are now getting the attention they’ve all been waiting for. She tells the reporter the attention female rappers are getting is needed.

“You should be thankful that the conversation is even started now,” she says. “New rappers and old, because now the focus is absolutely on us.”

Despite the backlash DJ is getting from his comments, Da Brat says she loves him for all that he does. She even claims there is a “method to hid madness”.

“I love Jermaine Dupri for all he does,” she continues. “This conversation needed to be had a long time ago.”

We’re not quite sure what the method is, or where JD might be going with this. But, sources say he could be looking to debut a brand new rap show featuring female rappers.

Unfortunately, it looks like many women would rather wait tables than to participate.

Following his comments, many female rappers have come to criticize JD, including Tierra Whack, Doja Cat, and Bhadd Babie.

Fans are also criticizing JD, calling his comment sexist and disrespectful.

In the interview, JD says: “I feel like they all rapping about the same thing. I don’t think they’re showing us who’s the best rapper. For me it’s like strippers rapping.”

The issue, though, is that male rappers often rap about the same things! Money, cars, clothes, females, fame, making it out of the gutter. So, many are wondering where this energy is for ALL rappers.
