It’s been a week since the fatal stabbing of 27-year-old Christian Toby Obumseli. The past few days have brought questions about his past social media use, footage of his girlfriend Courtney Tailor covered in blood and no real answers from Miami Police on the case. Now, a circulating video gave insight into Courtney’s recent whereabouts–and she isn’t sitting in a holding cell or psychiatric hospital.
The video clip ends at about 30 seconds. But it’s enough time to see Courtney sitting at a bar dressed in grey, army fatigue pants, a jean jacket and beige cap. Her father was also present. According to TMZ, a woman filmed the video on Friday night. The woman spotted Courtney inside the lobby area of Grand Beach Hotel in Miami — about 13 miles from where Christian was stabbed on April 3.
At the beginning of the video, Courtney is seen pulling on her standing father’s hand as she turns her face away from the camera. The woman filming is heard exchanging words with both the influencer and daddy. It seems like they asked her to stop recording, but the woman refused. Instead she said “yeah you should go cause you just killed your boyfriend” as Courtney and her father begin to walk away.
TMZ confirmed Frank Prieto as Courtney’s attorney, who also confirmed Courtney was at the bar with her father. But, the lawyer claims the public has the story wrong.
“It is unfortunate that a member of the public, knowing absolutely nothing about circumstances and events surrounding the death Mr. Obumseli, would take the opportunity to harass the Clenney family during a time that they are trying to be supportive for Courtney,” Frank told TMZ.
And Courtney’s attorney didn’t stop there. He also alleged Christian is responsible for “physical, emotional, and mental abuse” against Courtney. Frank even suggested Courtney might be a “victim of human trafficking.”
Courtney’s story seems to be that Christian gained access to her apartment without permission multiple times before he was fatally stabbed last Sunday. But, Christian’s friends have told outlets such as CBS4 Miami that Courtney and Christian shared the apartment at One Paraiso.
“Courtney acted in self-defense; the investigation by both the City of Miami Police Department and the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office will conclude such,” Courtney’s attorney said. “With that said, we would ask for the public’s understanding about observing the family’s privacy at this time.”
But despite these claims by Courtney and her lawyer, the public has consumed another theory. Many people, including friends of both Courtney and Christian, have accused the social media influencer of killing Christian. However, police have not named her as a suspect. No updates have been provided by Miami authorities. This remains the case, even after viral footage seemingly depicted Courtney drenched in what’s assumed to be Christian’s blood. Her face, arms, chest, stomach and top half of her sweatpants were all covered in blood.
As previously reported, Miami police responded to a domestic dispute call on April 3. When they arrived, they found Christian “suffering from an apparent knife wound.” After emergency personnel transported Christian to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, he passed away from his injuries.
At the time, reports said a woman was detained at the scene, taken in for questioning, but reportedly later threatened to kill herself. At that point, she was place on “placed on psychiatric hold” for an alleged mental health evaluation.
Now, days later, it appears Courtney is a free woman. The Miami Police Department is silent. And charges? They’re nowhere to be found.
This is a developing story.
