Tommy and Marryanne Pilling have overcome struggles as individuals with #downsyndrome, but they certainly have mastered their love for one another. The couple is celebrating 22 years of marriage and say that their relationship is stronger than ever! Maryanne’s sister, Linda Newman tells PEOPLE, “They love one another dearly, respect one another and are completely honest.”
Outsiders looking in have not always been supportive of their union and Maryanne’s mother even received backlash for letting her daughter get married. Nevertheless, Tommy asked her mother for her hand and he later proposed with a toy ring. In July 1995 they finally tied the knot!
“My wedding was the best day of my life. I was shocked when Tommy proposed, but I didn’t have to think twice about saying yes,” Maryanne told The Express. “Tommy and I never argue,” she added. “I love my husband very much. He is my best friend.”
Congratulations to the happy couple! #NothingDownAboutIt
