If it’s not one thing, it’s another! Roomies, if you purchased popular product Cottonelle wipes throughout this pandemic, you might be surprised to learn that Cottonelle has recalled their flushable wipes nationwide due to possible bacteria contamination. This is a big issue because this can cause bacterial infections in consumers.
Kimberly-Clark, which is the company that manufacturers Cottonelle, has issued the recall on select packages of Cottonelle Flushable Wipes and GentlePlus Flushable Wipes that were manufactured between Feb. 7 and Sept. 14. According to the official recall notice on the Cottonelle website, consumers can check to see if their wipes were affected.
In the recall notice, Kimberly-Clark states, ”Some of the affected products could contain the bacterium, Pluralibacter gergoviae, which is a cause of infection in humans, can be an opportunistic pathogen, and is part of the normal intestinal flora. At this time, there is a low rate of non-serious complaints, such as irritation and minor infection, reported for the affected wipes.”
Also, the recall does warn consumers with weakened immune systems and pre-existing conditions that have been treated surgically or belong to another sensitive group of people. They are at higher risk of bacterial infection.
Kimberly-Clark encourages anyone who believes they were infected to contact their Consumer Service team at 1-800-414-0165 for instructions, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT on weekdays.
