Cori Broadus has been very transparent with fans about her ongoing battle with lupus. According to HotNewHipHop, the 23-year-old revealed her lupus diagnosis in 2020. And even explained that she also struggles with high blood pressure.
Broadus shared her battle in an exclusive interview with Essence.
I was diagnosed at the age of 6 with lupus. For those who don’t know, it’s an autoimmune disorder where your organs attack one another. So my immune system is super weak. I [have] experienced hair loss…
Because of this, the Broadus family developed their own line of hair scarves.
Broadus Recently Revealed Her Upcoming Kidney Biopsy With Fans
According to The Blast, Broadus revealed that she would be undergoing a kidney biopsy so that doctors could examine any abnormalities regarding the lupus disease.
The 23-year-old revealed the news via her Instagram Story.
I get a kidney biopsy today I’m so scared 😭😭😭 last time I got one I was like 7/8…
In following posts to her account, Broadus promised to keep her fans updated on the procedure. But unfortunately, doctors determined they would have to reschedule the biopsy due to Broadus’ “way too high” blood pressure and heart rate.
…they don’t want to risk anything, so have to reschedule and see a cardiologist.
Broadus Received Her Biopsy Results
Broadus received approval from a cardiologist and moved forward with the new kidney biopsy appointment. According to the outlet, the 23-year-old shared her nervousness about the procedure with fans via her Instagram Story.
Mood because my kidney biopsy (part 2) is tomorrow 😭😭😭… But they’re putting me to sleep, so should be allll 👍🏾.
After the procedure, Broadus let fans know that “everything went well.”
She did it! Everything went well, have to stay for 6 hours to make sure no bleeding or anything
The 23-year-old also transparently shared her results with fans via her Instagram Story.
Just got off the phone w my rheumatologist, and these are the results from the biopsy…
Broadus explained that her lupus disease is at stage 3 out of 5. And explained that stage 5 is the most severe instance, but stage 3 is more mild. Additionally, since she is not at a stage 4 diagnosis, she will be able to avoid chemotherapy treatment. Furthermore, the 23-year-old also learned that the disease is “still at a reversible stage.”
Broadus also shared that her kidneys “are okay just inflamed.” And she’ll be checking her blood pressure every day.
