Last month, #Compton mayor #AjaBrown announced that she would be running for Congress right after #Clueless actress #StaceyDash announced that she was running. Dash withdrew her name from the race last week after considering how her participation would be “detrimental to the health and wellbeing” of her family. And now, Aja Brown has withdrew her name too… but for exciting reasons!
Today, Brown announced that she’s withdrawing her name for the sake of her unborn child! Yep! Mayor Brown and her husband Van Brown are expecting a baby later this year so she’s taking time to focus on becoming a mother.
“We are overjoyed at the opportunity to become parents and look forward to starting our family. To date, one of my highest honors has been dedicating my time and life to serving my community,” she said in a statement. “However, at this point in my life, my family commitments supersede my ability to expand my level of service. Today, I am announcing that I am withdrawing my candidacy to represent the 44th Congressional District.”
Brown continued, “This milestone in my personal life has provided me with a greater perspective and deepened my commitment to strengthening our families,” she continued in the statement. “Thank you for your overwhelming love, support, and prayers. Our journey together is not over, it’s just beginning.”
We ain’t mad at ya, Mayor Brown! Just get back in there because your people need you!
