The 1975 film, “Cooley High,” will be the next classic film to get a remake through MGM. Set in 1960’s Chicago, the film focused on a group of high school seniors trying to survive during their final days at Edwin G. Cooley Vocational High School.
According to Deadline, rapper and actor Common will star in the film, as well as produce under his Freedom Road Productions.
Other producers on board include, DeVon Franklin, who you all may know as Megan Good’s husband. He will produce through his Franklin Entertainment; Tony Krantz will produce through Flame Ventures. His father Steve Krantz was one of the producers for the original film.
Seth Rosenfeld will write the film’s script.
“Cooley High’s” original cast included Lawrence Hilton Jacobs as Richard “Cochise” Morris and Glynn Turman as Leroy “Preach” Jackson.
The film was set with a $75,000 budget and went on to make over $13 million at the box office.
There has been no cast announced for the film, but we can only imagine how dope this film is going to be.
Roommates are you hear for the remake of this classic film?
