Roy Wood Jr. is taking a moment to give Vice Presential Kamala Harris her flowers amid continual backlash over her constitutional efforts. In fact, the comedian called out the double standards that women in power often have to endure!
At The White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) on Saturday, Wood had the opportunity to share a few words with attendees.
While he hilariously roasted politicians like Donald Trump and Joe Biden at the dinner, he sweetly took a moment to acknowledge people’s critiques against Kamala Harris as well.

The Comedy Central personality segued to Kamala by calling the controversy surrounding her work efforts “the most insulting scandal” of the Biden Administration.
“I think the most insulting scandal to fall to the feet of the Biden Administration was placed at the feet of our Madam Vice President. The scandal of ‘What Does Kamala Do?'”
After slamming the inquiry as “disrespectful,” Wood pointed out, “Nobody ever asked that question about the vice president until a woman got the job.”
Amid audience cheers, Roy Wood brought former VP Mike Pence into the conversation—along with a coy reference to the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
“I don’t know what Mike Pence did. The only thing I know about Mike Pence is that he’s really good at playing hide-and-seek at the Capitol.”
Wood humorously added, “Gotta be crafty to catch Mike Pence in that Capitol, baby. He knows all them nooks and crannies.”
Here’s What Our VP Kamala Harris Is Bringing To The Table
It’s worth acknowledging some of Kamala Harris’ accomplishments during her tenure as our VP.
The White House details Kamala’s efforts to “get America vaccinated, rebuild our economy, reduce child poverty, and pass an infrastructure law that will lift up communities that have been left behind.”
It’s also acknowledged that Kamala has “played a key role in engaging world leaders and strengthening our nation’s alliances and partnerships,” evidenced by her trip to Africa in March.

Of course, she’s also advocated for change in the U.S. As The Shade Room previously reported, Harris attended Tyre Nichols‘ funeral earlier this year and demanded that Congress pass the George Floyd Justice In Policing Act.
“As a United States Senator, I co-authored the George Floyd Justice In Policing Act. And as Vice President of the United States, we demand that Congress pass this act. Joe Biden WILL sign it, and we should not delay and we will not be denied. It is non-negotiable!”
A quick scroll through the official U.S. Vice President Instagram account also highlights some of Kamala’s recent efforts.
Last week, Harris linked up with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol to explore how they could “monitor the impacts of the climate crisis.”
She has also advocated for Black maternal health and the replacement of lead water pipes throughout the country, showing her involvement in various different areas.
We Can’t Forget About The LEWKS From The WHCD
While Roy’s comments about Kamala were a significant takeaway, the stunning fashions that attendees donned deserve a shoutout, too!
From Gayle King donning a pink gown to Sunny Hostin wearing bright yellow, the journalists kept it cute with their lewks!
Julia Fox, Brittney and Cherelle Griner, and Ayanna Pressley all opted for black outfits, while Rosario Dawson and Winnie Harlow opted for pops of color.
The Nanny star Fran Drescher attended the event while keepin’ it classic with an ivory pantsuit. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend also employed neutral colors for their outfits.
