A 5-year-old boy is recovering in a hospital after being attacked by a mountain lion.
With the recent reports of children being in the hands of wildlife animals, yet another has become a victim. However, this young boys mother was not about to lose her child and took matters into her own hands.
According to CNN, the young boy was outside playing with his older brother, until his mother heard his screams. She rushed outside to see her 5-year-old being attacked by a mountain lion.
She physically moved the mountain lion from her child and suffered minor injuries to her hands and legs.
Her son was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital and later transported to Children’s Hospital in Denver. He is currently in fair condition with injuries to his face, head and neck.
Although mountain lions in Colorado are not uncommon, sighting these animals are. Following the attack, U.S. Forest Service located a mountain lion in the area and put it down.
Investigators are looking into reports of a second mountain lion in the area.
