Roommates, Coi Leray is no stranger to finding herself in the middle of Internet criticism—and the latest incident surrounds her rapping skills. After her “XXL Freshman Freestyle” was officially released, the Internet didn’t waste anytime highly critiquing her freestyle attempt, which caused her to clap back in various ways.
Following her “XXL Freshman Freestyle” performance, Coi Leray quickly caught wind that many people on the Internet were not feeling her rhymes, so she decided to head to her various social media accounts to clap back.
First, she posted a video of herself to TikTok, in which she’s seen rhyming about “it being lonely at the top,” as she throws countless amounts o dollars bills around her house. Then she took to Twitter to post a more aggressive response that directly called out her critics.
“How the hell you gon tell me how to rap? Ain’t no f**king rule book n***a I do and say wtf I want you either like it or not b**ch I’m here,” she wrote.
She wasn’t done and the proceeded to post on her Instagram stories explaining how she believed her freestyle cypher performance was the best out of the entire class:
“You thought I was about to spit the hottest fire flame. Let me tell y’all something…I feel like, personally, I had the best “XXL” freestyle. Me and Lakeyah fa sho had the best “XXL” freestyle. Especially my whole class of the cyphers. I haven’t even heard the cyphers, other cyphers yet. And I know we had the best cypher. Especially me.”
As of now, Coi Leray appears to be done addressing her critics…but only time will tell if it will remain that way.
