The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will honor one of the best actresses in the game this November!
According to Page Six, Cicely Tyson was voted by the academy’s board of governors to receive an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards, and we think it’s well deserved because at 93 years young she’s still working and still snatching our edges!
“Choosing the honorees for its awards each year is the happiest of all the Board of Governors’ work,” said academy president John Bailey. “And this year, its selection of five iconic artists was made with universal acclaim by the Academy’s 54 spirited governors.”
The statuette is to “honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.”
The Governors Awards is scheduled to take place on November 18th. Congrats, Cicely Tyson!
