The saga continues! The world has seen and heard the opinions of everyone about the Chris Rock, Will Smith incident. However, the main person at the center of the controversy hasn’t spoken out until now. Tonight, Chris Rock has finally broken his silence and publicly spoke out about the incident at the Oscars where he was slapped.
According to People, Chris hit the stage and performed at The Wilbur in Boston and addressed the ordeal. The crowd was on 1,000 and screamed Chris’s name in his first appearance since the 94th Academy Awards, says an audience member. The comedian took the stage dressed in all white, where he was welcomed with a standing ovation. “What’s up, Boston?” he asked the crowd, “How was your weekend?!”
Before getting too deep into things, he told the audience, “I’m still processing what happened.” Chris didn’t say much more about the situation, but he did tell fans in the audience that he would probably talk about it at some point in a serious manner. The incident at the Oscars has helped Chris gain more attention.
Live event ticketing site TickPick shared that ticket sales have increased significantly for Chris. On March 28th, the company tweeted, “We sold more tickets to see Chris Rock overnight than we did in the past month combined.” Over 200 people retweeted the news on Twitter.
