Chance The Rapper Talks Fatherhood, His Next Project, And Adulting!

Chance The Rapper is becoming the people’s choice! From his rapid-growing career as an independent artist to his commitment and active involvement in his community; and of course his relationship with his daughter, Kensli.

To say the least, he seems like a pretty well-rounded guy. He spills some personal tea in an interview with Complex that reinforces how Chance is seen in the public eye!
We know that it all starts at home and although some may label him “world’s best dad,” Chance says he actually has the world’s best dad. He attributes his parents for his fathering skills and understandings.
“Well, I have the world’s best dad currently and most of the stuff that he’s showed me, his dedication, his time management, his commitment to being truthful,” chance says. “It’s all about what he’s instilled in me. So I want to have the type of relationship where I’m a trusted figure beyond a dad. I want to be a good friend and a good example and somebody that’s dedicated the amount of time that would achieve or earn that.”

“My mom and dad have always been really close to me and very hands on with things that I’ve done…good people. But Once I had my daughter I noticed how long this parenting thing goes on.”
He added, “I’m in a unique position but a lot of the things that you would think you would get past because of the “successes” that I’ve had, like, I’m honestly in real life thinking of moving in with my parents right now.”
He talks about how being 23 with a kid and working can be overwhelming and that he finds comfort in knowing he can go home with his parents if need be.
Let’s get into this project though because I know y’all are dying to know what’s next from Chance!
“I think having it for purchase would be dope,” he said. “Also, I’m talking about… this is all like, hypothetical. There is no album. I don’t have something sitting… I can feel, like, fans squirming in their chair like, ‘Oh shit, he’s changing!’ This is an idea.”
He says, though, whenever he does have an album, which he already has songs recorded for, by the way, it will be different than his last three projects (Acid Rap, 10 Day, and Coloring Book).
“I think whatever this album is, it would just be— it wouldn’t be so centered. Acid Rap and 10 Day and Coloring Book was like a trilogy in itself. One aesthetic, one goal, and this is like, whatever my next thing is, it’ll be, I think, just a bit bigger. Like maybe it’ll… there’ll be some type of visual component to it. Like it’ll be a movie, or it’ll be a play or some type of tour.”
Are y’all here for it?!
