Chadwick Boseman Makes SAG Awards Nomination History With Four Nominations In A Single Year

As many of you know, award season is quickly approaching and the nominations for some of the top award shows are being released. On Thursday, the nominations for the 2021 SAG Awards were announced and Chadwick Boseman has made SAG Awards nomination history.

According to Variety, Chadwick became the first person to score four SAG Award nominations in a single year. He has been nominated for his lead role in the Netflix film, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” and his supporting role in Spike Lee’s Netflix film “Da 5 Bloods.” Aside from those two nominations, the entire ensemble from both films are nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

As many of you know Chadwick, unfortunately, passed away last August from colon cancer. The release of “Da 5 Bloods,” came two months before his passing, and the release of “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” came four months after his passing, officially marking his final role on screen.

Last month Chadwick’s wife Taylor Simone Ledward emotionally accepted an award for him at the 30th Annual IFP Gotham Awards. She said, “It is an honor to receive this award on behalf of my husband. An acknowledgment of not only his profound work but of his impact on this industry and this world. Chad, thank you! I love you, I am so proud of you. Keep shining your light on us.”
