Over the weekend, Cedric The Entertainer was honored in St. Louis. He had a street named after him and his very own day.
According to Fox 2 Now, Cedric said, “When I think of St. Louis I think about my mother, where I grew up, and all the streets. The places I have been down that became a fabric of who I am.”
He continued, “This has been a long journey. It was a journey of love that I discovered that I can do comedy. I would go and perform wherever I could. I did not worry about sometimes people would just pay me a chicken wing, I would gladly take six wings to do these jokes.”
The unveiling of the street name took place on Saturday at the corner of Olive Street and Vandeventer Avenue in front of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Alumni House as Mayor Lyda Krewson announced the day as Cedric The Entertainer Day.
The street naming recognizes Cedric as a hometown icon and celebrates his many achievements, as well as his philanthropic work.
Back in July Cedric The Entertainer was honored with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Congrats to Cedric The Entertainer on his new honor.
