Cassie‘s legal team has issued a statement following Diddy apologizing for the resurfaced footage of him assaulting her in 2016.
According to US Weekly, Meredith Firetog, a partner at Wigdor LLP, issued a statement to the outlet on Sunday, May 19. Firetog addressed Diddy’s “most recent statement,” explaining that it’s “more about himself than the many people he has hurt.”
“When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday,” Firetog explained. “That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation…
Furthermore, Firetog explained that “no one” will be “swayed” by Diddy’s “disingenuous words.”
Social media users reacted to Firetog’s statement in The Shade Room’s comment section. Many applauded Cassie’s legal team.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Diddy made headlines on Friday, May 17, after CNN published footage of the music mogul assaulting Cassie in the InterContinental Hotel Los Angeles, California, in March 2016.
The footage was reportedly captured in March of that year and appeared to corroborate allegations Cassie made against Diddy in her November 2023 lawsuit against the mogul. As The Shade Room previously reported, amid her claims of abuse, trafficking, and assault, Cassie specifically alleged Diddy left her with a black eye when they were staying at the InterContinental Hotel in March 2016.
In the suit, Cassie described leaving a hotel room, which prompted Diddy to follow her, “grab” her, and throw glass vases at her — as seen in the resurfaced footage.
In the lawsuit, Cassie even alleged that Diddy paid $50,000 to the hotel for the security footage.
After the footage went viral, Diddy released a video statement on Sunday, May 19, per The Shade Room. The mogul, who initially denied Cassie’s allegations of abuse and settled the lawsuit, took “responsibility” for his actions in the video.
To date, the resurfaced footage has prompted a plethora of celebrities to speak out on Diddy and domestic violence, as resurfaced clips of the mogul continue to make their rounds on social media.
