Carlee Russell reportedly celebrated her 26th birthday amid public skepticism of her alleged disappearance. As The Shade Room previously reported, Russell allegedly was abducted on Thursday, July 13, after reporting a toddler on the side of an interstate. She returned to her parent’s home on Saturday, July 15. However, Alabama authorities have been unable to corroborate Russell’s claims.
Last week, authorities released her Google search history showing she requested information about Amber alerts and the film ‘Taken.’
Since then, her boyfriend, Thomar Latrell Simmons, and his family have spoken out in response to public opinion that she may have fabricated her disappearance.
According to Daily Mail, Russell celebrated her 26th birthday this past weekend at her home in Hoover, Alabama. Additionally, multiple cars were seen parked outside her family’s residence and in their driveway.
The outlet reports that Hoover police monitored the residence as guests entered and exited the home.
Daily Mail adds that Russell is now cooperating with authorities after initially delaying “additional requests” to be interviewed about her alleged disappearance.
According to the outlet, if Russell is proven to have filed a false police report, she can face a misdemeanor charge. Additionally, the charge will carry a penalty of up to one year in jail. Furthermore, Russell may also face a fine of $6,000.
We should add that Russell has since seemingly defended her alleged actions of staging her disappearance as “self-preservation.” This past weekend, the 26-year-old “liked” a tweet of a woman excusing her alleged actions.
As of Monday morning, however, the tweet has been removed from Russell’s “likes.”
Over the weekend, the sister of Carlee Russell’s boyfriend, Thomar Latrell Simmons, also shared her thoughts on the 26-year-old’s alleged disappearance.
Mya Simmons took to Facebook to share that she “can’t believe” Russell “fabricated” her disappearance. She added that she heavily defended Russell against public skepticism and could turn her “emotions into actions.”
She added that the entire nation “is on” Russell’s “neck for lying” and is praying “for her and her family to just tell the truth about EVERYTHING.”
Simmons ended her statements by explaining that Russell “fumbled” her brother.
Before his sister’s public statements, Thomar Latrell Simmons spoke exclusively with the New York Post. Simmons asked the public to “stop bullying” Russell.
“The only thing I can say is, I want everyone to stop bullying her. I know what it seems like what she did. Just stop bullying on social media…”
Simmons added that despite the circumstances, no one “deserves to be cyberbullied.”
“Think about her mental health. She doesn’t deserve that. She doesn’t. Nobody deserves to be cyberbullied.”
Additionally, it has since been revealed that Russell is now fired from her job at Woodhouse Spa in Birmingham, Alabama. According to the New York Post, the spa’s owner has shared that Russell’s co-workers are “pissed” that she may have fabricated her disappearance, especially since Russell’s co-workers worked so diligently to spread awareness about her alleged abduction.
“It was really devastating for them thinking a co-worker was abducted,” Stuart Rome told the outlet. “The following day, Saturday, it was the busiest day of the week, and they had to plug along and work and in the off times pass out flyers and other things… As the information came out that there were some questionable things, we’ve been a little pissed off, mainly because so many people took so much time out to search.”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Hoover police have shared Russell’s puzzling 911 call and Google searches. Her searches reportedly include “how to take money from a register without being caught,” questions about Amber Alerts, and the movie ‘Taken.’
Since the Hoover police shared the call and Google searches with the public, the spa has received negative reviews and trying its best “to keep the doors open.”
