It’s been a long road to justice for artist and creative Cardi B. As previously reported, Cardi brought a lawsuit against blogger Tasha K in 2019 for spreading lies about her online. Tasha, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, told stories related to sex, drugs and infidelity about Cardi in nearly 40 videos beginning in 2018. Tasha produces and hosts popular segments on her YouTube channel named unWinewithTashaK. Her audience sits at one million followers on the channel.
A jury sided with Cardi on Monday and found Tasha and her company Kebe Studios LLC liable in all charges. She faced accusations of defamation, invasion of privacy through false light portrayal and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Tasha K’s False Information
“My husband, attorneys & I fought really hard,” Tasha tweeted in response to the news. “I want to thank them for their long hours and sleepless nights.”
The YouTuber previously told her viewers that Cardi B worked as a prostitute and contracted several sexually transmitted infections including herpes. In one video, Tasha also alleged that Cardi committed sexual, penetrative acts with beer bottles on stage during her time as a stripper. She also told lies about Cardi cheating on her husband Offset. Turns out, Tasha K’s stories were untrue per the verdict. The jury reportedly deliberated and made their decision in under three hours. Journalist Dennis Bryon brought the initial reports of the win to social media.
Cardi’s Testimony In Court
As previously reported, Cardi gave a tearful testimony on the stand over a week ago. The artist testified about the mental hardships she faced following Tasha K’s lies. Cardi told the court that she “wanted to commit suicide” due to the videos.
“I felt defeated and depressed and I didn’t want to sleep with my husband,” Cardi testified.
Tasha’s allegations came shortly after the birth of Cardi and Offset’s daughter Kulture was born. However, Cardi said that she felt she didn’t deserve Kulture following the rumors. Additionally, she told jurors she experienced fatigue, anxiety, weight loss and migraines.
Cardi also sought therapy due to the backlash she faced for the rumors. For instance, she reportedly faced online hate for a photo of her kissing her daughter Kulture on the mouth. Given the untrue claims by Tasha that Cardi had herpes, online users heavily criticized the rapper.
Tasha’s response on Monday to the lawsuit loss did not include an apology for Cardi nor her family. Instead, she focused on promoting her brand.
“Winos it’s only up from here,” Tasha wrote in her single response tweet. “See y’all in a few days. Back to work.”
This is a developing story.
