It seems since Cardi B’s arrival in the game, almost everything she touches turns to gold– well, in this case, diamond. Today it was announced that her hit song ‘Bodak Yellow’ which debuted in 2017, is RIAA certified diamond! The RIAA shared the news from their Twitter account earlier today.
This is huge because this means the song went 10-times platinum! In addition to selling 10 million units, Cardi is the first female rapper in RIAA history’s to achieve such a big milestone. Everyone was excited for Cardi, and she finally shared a message on her Instagram that took us back down memory lane with a “How it started vs. How it’s going” post reflecting on the song. She shared videos of her rapping the song, footage from her receiving the plaque when the song went gold in 2017, and the unveiling of the diamond plaque she received for ‘Bodak Yellow.’
She captioned the lengthy post, “How it started, How’s it’s going. Thank you to everyone that sent me beautiful congrats on Bodak going, Diamond. A couple of years ago, I didn’t even understand what going diamond meant. I just wanted to win and break-in. This record changed my life.” She continued showing love to all her supporters. “Thank you to everyone who showed Bodak so much support and who bought [the record] till THIS DAYY!! That’s why it went diamond cause of the support YOU still give,” Cardi wrote. “Wap is a spicy one, shorty 5X platinum in 7 months. It makes me really happy cause I put this song out when I doubted myself the most. With hardly any radio play cause of how nasty it was but babyeeee it was a shocker!”
The Bardi Gang flooded her comments showing more love, and even her sister Hennessy Carolina let her know how proud she was! Her most recent single, ‘WAP,’ looks like it might be on the road to go diamond too, as it is already 5x Multi-Platinum and sold 5 million units!
Congratulations Cardi!
