Cardi B will reportedly guest-star on the Nickelodeon series ‘Baby Shark’s Big Show.’ But, she won’t be starring in the animated seas without husband Offset and their daughter Kulture by her side. Talk about family goals! Each family member will voice shark characters inspired by the family’s real names and life. Cardi took to Instagram on Thursday evening to confirm the news.
“Make sure you guys and your babies check out me & my family episode on BABYSHARK series on Nickelodeon,” she wrote in her post caption.
Along with the caption, the artist also posted a tweet about the opportunity, the episode’s teaser video and an adorable clip of Kulture delivering her lines in the studio. According to Billboard, Cardi will guest-star as the character Sharki B while Offset takes on the character ‘Offshark’ and Kulture voices ‘Kulture Shark.’ A press release gave more details about Cardi’s role, who is seemingly the main guest on the series.
“[Sharki B is] the biggest star in the seven seas — flashy, awe-inspiring, and ruthlessly fun — but always 100% herself and fin-spires other fishies to do the same,” the release said per Billboard.
As you may already know, the show is based on Pinkfong’s popular song and video ‘Baby Shark Dance.’ The video has received more 10.3 billion views since 2016. Its follow-up series launched on Nick Jr. in December 2020. Per Billboard’s reporting, a movie based on the video is set to premiere in 2023.
Apparently, the episode will feature main character Baby Shark and his best friend William. The kid sharks get an opportunity to meet Sharki B. She teaches them her viral song-and-dance ‘The Seaweed Sway.’
In the 38-second preview clip, Cardi is heard singing “swim to the left, swim to the right, now spin and do the seaweed swag.” At one point in the preview, the well-dressed Offshark and Kulture Shark join Sharki B in a performance of her underwater hit. The episode will air on April 15.
“I got here by doing things my own Sharki B way,” Cardi’s character said in the preview clip.
And even though the line is part of the episode, it rings true for the award-winning artist. She climbed to the top of music charts in a relatively short amount of time and has seamlessly made the Hollywood crossover. On Friday, Cardi B’s debut studio album ‘Invasion of Privacy’ set another record.
“[Cardi B’s] ‘Invasion of Privacy;’ becomes the first album in history to have all of its songs certified RIAA Platinum or higher,” Chart Data tweeted.
Cardi called the accomplishment “amazing,” expressed excitement for her second album and thanked fans for the love and support in a tweet.
