Cardi B received additional financial compensation in Tuesday’s legal proceedings. According to multiple sources, including reporter Dennis Byron, Cardi B will collect a total of $3.8 million dollars in the lawsuit win against blogger Tasha K. News first broke of Cardi’s defamation lawsuit win on Monday. A jury found Tasha K and her company Kebe Studios LLC liable for defamation, invasion of privacy through false light portrayal and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
On Monday, the artist secured $1 million for in general damages including “pain and suffering and/or reputational injury.” In the latest development, Cardi was awarded additional coins for attorney fees and punitive damages. Sources close to the mega star say she received a little over $1.3 million in attorney fees. Additionally, Tasha K will have to pay $1 million in punitive damages. Meanwhile, Kebe Studios LLC has to pay $500,000 in punitive damages.
Previous circulating court documents show Cardi initially received $250,000 for medical expenses. However, new reports allege that amount was reduced to $25,000 therefore bringing the total compensation received to $3.8 million.
Following Monday’s loss, Tasha took to her social media to thank those on her side of the court battle.
“My husband, attorneys & I fought really hard,” Tasha tweeted. “I want to thank them for their long hours and sleepless nights. Winos it’s only up from here. See y’all in a few days. Back to work.”
Following the latest development, the rapper issued a statement about the closing of the case.
“During this trial, all of you have learned about the darkest time in my life. That moment in time was fueled by the vile, disgusting, and completely false narratives that were repeatedly and relentlessly being shared online,” Cardi said. “I thought I would never be heard or vindicated and I felt completely helpless and vulnerable. I have never taken for granted the platform that my fame allows me to have, which is why for over three years I dedicated every resource I had to seek justice.”
