Candiace Dillard Bassett is closing her ‘Real Housewives Of Potomac’ chapter! The singer announced her departure from the franchise in a PEOPLE exclusive.
Just a lil’ ‘RHOP’ context, Candiace joined the cast during season three and has been on six seasons since then. That includes the eighth one that just wrapped.
Bassett told PEOPLE that she’s grateful for how far ‘RHOP’ has brought her but wants to focus on other goals.
“As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey. With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP.”
That said, though, PEOPLE reports that the 37-year-old hinted this might not be her end-all, be-all with the franchise. She called her exit a “see you later” rather than a “farewell.”
Of course, she also took some time in her statement to thank her fanbase for their continued support.
“Your unwavering support has been my guiding light, and I look forward to the exciting adventures that lie ahead — and more importantly, sharing them all with you!” she says.
A source confirmed to PEOPLE that Candiace made the decision to temporarily leave ‘Real Housewives Of Potomac’ on her own accord.
It’s clear if her pending opportunities are music-related. ‘RHOP’ fans might recall that Candiace popularized her music career on the show — even filming music videos alongside the cast. She released her first album ‘Deep Space’ in 2021. Her breakout single ‘Drive Back’ reportedly became the “song of the year” at the 2023 Bravos.
However, she recently starred as a co-host on Angela Yee’s nationally syndicated radio show during a viral interview with Ray J. So perhaps we could be getting a lil’ more of host Candiace? Only time will tell!
Candiace Dillard Bassett aside, Karen Huger was another ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star who recently made headlines. Huger was charged with a DUI amid other related charges in Maryland last week. She shared a statement following the charges, expressing her gratitude to be alive.
