A Bronx man accidentally shot himself on Wednesday, and when police arrived and asked what happened he gave them the description of an imaginary shooter.
According to the New York Daily News, Arthur Palombo, 20, was arrested on Thursday after he lied to police about his self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Palombo was inside of Williamsbridge Oval Park when he accidentally shot himself in the left side of his stomach, with the bullet exiting his left flank. According to authorities, the shooting occurred around 10:45 pm.
First responders took Palombo to Jacobi Medical Center. When investigators questioned him about the shooting, he said that he went to the park to show an old revolver to a potential buyer that he had met a few weeks prior.
He claimed the buyer declined his denied his $100 asking price and shot him with the gun as the two argued over the price.
Palombo who is Hispanic described the shooter as a black man with a bald head, but police only found the revolver when searching the area.
After being released from the hospital, police questioned Palombo again and that is when he confessed to accidentally shooting himself as the gun went off in his jacket pocket.
He was charged with weapons possession and filing a false report.
According to officials, a judge ordered him held on $10,000 bail during his arraignment Friday.
