Last week, Brittney Taylor reportedly turned herself in to the police on an arrest warrant. The former Love & Hip Hop: New York star faces multiple charges after allegedly beating her children’s father with a baseball bat in front of their kids.
According to TMZ’s law enforcement sources, the altercation between Taylor and Afeez Akande happened earlier this month. Afeez and Brittney share two children, a two-year-old and an eight-month-old.
Per TMZ’s reporting, Brittney allegedly took a bat to Afeez when he flew to New York to visit their children. It’s unclear where he usually resides, but the former couple was allegedly distant due to “bad blood” between them.
Afeez allegedly pulled up to Taylor’s home with his mother. As they prepared to exit the apartment, Brittney allegedly punched Afeez in the face in front of their children, per the criminal complaint. Then, she reportedly followed him outside with a bat and swung at him.
The bat connected, leaving the father with a bloody laceration on his face. According to TMZ, Afeez received stitches in a hospital for the cut above his eye.
Last week, Afeez shared an alarming post to his Insta-page featuring a bloody cut. He didn’t name-drop Brittney but spoke about domestic violence in his caption–hinting at the incident described above.
“Domestic violence against men is real and should be taken seriously. I’ve been bullied way too long. This is one instance of what happened when I flew to NYC to see my kids….never again,” Afeez wrote.
Prosecutors charged Taylor with two counts of assault, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon. It’s unclear when she’s due to appear in court for the charges.

On Monday (March 27), Taylor shared footage of her at an AMC Magic Johnson in Harlem, New York. It’s unclear when she was released from jail.
However, she was present at the venue for the premiere of Teyana Taylor’s film A Thousand And One. After the premiere, Brittney appeared to be in a club-like venue with friends.
She has not publicly responded to the alleged assault of Afeez. TMZ was the first to break the story.
