What do you do when your fiancé calls off the wedding the day of?
Sadly, that’s what happened to a woman this past Saturday in Sacramento, California. Her fiancé decided to get “cold feet” the day of her wedding, leaving her with a non refundable $35,000 event.
Instead of acting like a woman scorned, the 27-year-old and her mother Kari Duane, made positive of the situation.
So how do you make getting dumped on your wedding day positive you ask? Well, instead of canceling the reception, like most people would, they kept it on and scratched the original guest list.
Instead, they invited some homeless folks in Sacramento to make sure the food didn’t go to waste. Kudos!
“Even though my husband and I were feeling very sad for our daughter, it was heartwarming to see so many people be there and enjoy a meal,” Duane said.
Close to 90 homeless single people, grandparents and whole families with newborns showed up and enjoyed a meal that included appetizers, salad, gnocchi, salmon, and even tri-tip roast.
The bride for obvious reasons, didn’t attempt to reception but was happy with what she and her family did.
Both mom and daughter went on the planned non-refundable honeymoon to Belize.
What a wonderful way to make light of a terrible situation! Blessings to them!
