Roommates, it was months in the making, but Brandy and Monica finally gave their fans what they wanted and decided to team-up for their highly-anticipated Verzuz battle. Brandy and Monica spent the night playing a long list of all their hits from the past 25 years—and also managed to break a new Verzuz record with over 1 million viewers!
From the moment that the Verzuz battles started months ago during the height of COVID-19 quarantine, Brandy and Monica were two of the most talked about artists that fans wanted to see go head to head. After months of uncertainty, back-and-forth and missed opportunities, the two ladies finally decided to come together for a night of incredible music.
Filmed at Tyler Perry’s Atlanta movie studio, Brandy and Monica sat down side-by-side and queued up their classic hits, as well as new material and a few surprises. Practically every celebrity was in the live broadcast—proving just how big of a moment this was for the culture.
Brandy gave fans a little insight to two of the greatest hip hop artists of all-time being fans of hers, Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., while Monica managed to discuss the currently incarcerated C-Murder and her hopes that he will soon be home.
However, the most impressive part of the whole night aside from the music was that Brandy and Monica officially broke the Verzuz record and racked up a jaw-dropping 1.2 million viewers on Instagram…which is a new record!
We definitely enjoyed this historic night of music and memories.
