Roommates, one of the most talked about potential battles is finally happening! It has just been confirmed that both Brandy and Monica will face off hit-for-hit in the next Verzuz battle that’s officially been set for August 31st.
When decided who should be next to do the highly popular Verzuz battle, many fans have thrown Brandy and Monica into the conversation repeatedly. After both women stated that they were initially hesitant to do it in the past, but that they could be open if the set-up was right, it’s a treat for fans that the two finally came together to celebrate over 20 years of music.
As we all know, Brandy and Monica have teamed up twice, but it’s their legendary 1998 Grammy-winning song, “The Boy Is Mine,” everyone is looking forward to—and you can definitely expect that the chart-topping hit single will be one of the highlights of the night.
Taking to Instagram, both ladies posted comments of excitement about the news. Brandy wrote, “#History. Thank you @monicadenise and @verzuztv for making this happen. Let’s celebrate!!!!” Meanwhile Monica added, “This will be historical. It’s an honor @brandy.”
Monica then gave it over to the fans and asked what they wanted to hear, “What songs would you all like to see us bring to @verzuztv !! Celebrating these catalogs is for the culture with love! From Young Women to Adult Women we’ve been with y’all! Name the songs you love.”
Brandy and Monica will go head-to-head on Monday, August 31st at 8 p.m. EST on Instagram and Apple Music.
