The Boy Scouts of America will begin accepting transgender people into its program immediately, the organization said.
The organization previously relied on a birth certificate to determine one’s eligibility, but it looks like that’s a thing in the now!
“Starting today, we will accept and register youth in the Cub and Boy Scout programs based on the gender identity indicated on the application,” Spokeswoman Effie Delimarkos said. “Our organizations and local councils will help find units that can provide for the best interest of the child.”
According to NBC, The news comes just 18 months after The Boy Scouts ended their decade long ban on gay scout leaders.
