Boosie Goes OFF After Prosecutor Files New Charges Related To Dismissed San Diego Case

Earlier this month, Boosie shared his emotional response to the closing of a federal gun-related case. A San Diego judge had dismissed the charge of possession of a weapon by a felon, which police bagged him for after seeing a firearm in his waistband in a May 2023 social media video.

Rapper Reacts To New San Diego Possession Charges

On X (formerly Twitter), Boosie said he learned of his new possession charge while on vacation with 30 of his family members. So, what Boosie believed was a closed chapter has re-opened.

Southern District of California U.S. Attorney Tara McGrath filed a new indictment against the 41-year-old on Friday, July 10. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael G. Wheat and Ashley A. Kaino-Allen are also listed in the indictment documents obtained by Fox 5 San Diego.

“I’M ON VACATION WITH MY FAMILY MY LAWYER CALL ME N SAY THIS FEDERAL PROSECUTOR M.WHEAT HAS INDICTED ME AGAIN ON THE SAME CHARGE N ADDED A CHARGE THAT I WAS A DRUG ATTACK AROUND. A ATTACK AROUND A FIREARM SMH .WHY YOU DIDNT CHARGE ME WITH THAT THE FIRST TIME? THE JUDGE HAS RULED .AT THIS POINT YOU MAKING THIS A CIRCUS .THIS HAS TO BE UNCONSTITUTIONAL,” Boosie wrote on X in all caps.

He added that the new indictment is a demonstration of “how far these Devils will go to try n stop a successful Black man with a voice.” He also accused Prosecutor Wheat of having a “serious vendetta” against him and wanting to be a “character in a [film camera emoticon].”

Additionally, Boosie accused the prosecutor of giving fan energy, down to his alleged behavior in the courtroom.

“HE JUST DOESNT RESPECT THE COURTS. HE RACIST N HAS NO RESPECT FOR THE COURTS‼️IF I WASNT BOOSIE THIS WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO ME . THIS SAME MAN LOOKED AT ME SAID “WIPE ME DOWN” ON MY FIRST COURT APPEARANCE lol HES OBSESSED.”IVE NEVER SEEN NOTHING LIKE THIS N MY DAM LIFE.”

He added his message declaring that God has his back and that the “hardest battles” are given to the “strongest Souljas.”  “This man doesn’t respect the law. Tell a president to pardon this bulls*t,” he said.

The Details On Boosie’s New Charges

Boosie, real name Torrence Ivy Hatch, faces two counts of firearm possession. The charges cite interstate commerce as a convicted felon and knowingly possessing a firearm while dealing with abuse of a controlled substance.

Fox 5 San Diego reports that Hatch could face a maximum of 10 years if he’s convicted on the second charge of unlawful possession while dealing with substance abuse.

As mentioned, San Diego cops arrested him in May 2023 while he was in town to film a music video and perform at a club. Police learned he had a firearm in his possession after seeing it on his waistband on Instagram Live. San Francisco PD reportedly used a helicopter to track Boosie down and coordinate a traffic stop.

During that stop, they found two loaded handguns, which the rapper said belonged to his bodyguard. SFPD took the guard into custody, but they ultimately only charged Boosie.

His arraignment is reportedly scheduled for August 2.
