Boosie Badazz has come to R. Kelly’s defense following the latter’s 30-year prison sentence for sex trafficking on Wednesday, saying that he didn’t kill anyone while arguing for more lenient jail time.
The rapper, 39, took to Twitter on Thursday to express his anger at the 55-year-old R&B singer’s sentencing, which will almost certainly ensure he will die in prison. While Boosie clearly stated R. Kelly was wrong for his actions; he doubled down on questioning the lengthy prison term.
Boosie said that the parents who allowed and encouraged their kids to spend time with R Kelly should share the same responsibility in terms of guilt while adding that “college professors get probation” for these kind of crimes.
Boosie Says Parents of Abused Minors Are Just As Guilty As R. Kelly
“People getting 15/20 years for murder n he get 30 years, he was wrong af for manipulating young girls n sexing them (sad face emoji) but he didn’t kill anyone, aggravated rape anyone,” Boosie tweeted. “N no blame on the parents who knew everything. Boosie Says R. Kelly Needs Help, Not A “Death Sentence”
The 39-year-old Louisiana rapper added that R. Kelly needs help for his sexual perversions moreso than he does a lengthy prison sentence, and even went on to say that should the singer ever be released, he could teach young women about how to protect themselves from predatory men.
“Get this man some help n some jail time but don’t give him a death sentence, 30 years ‼️Maybe he can one get out one day n warn these young girls about older predators n make a difference? but 30 years like Come on world” Boosie went on to tweet.
Earlier this week, R. Kelly has officially been sentenced, and the “King Of R&B, with U.S. District Court Judge Ann Donnelly sentencing the singer in a Brooklyn courtroom to 30 years in prison after he was convicted on all nine counts in his sex trafficking case.
Judge Says Singers Crimes Were Carefully Plans
Judge Donnelly said that her sentence is one “I would have imposed regardless of the guidelines.” In the hearing, she spent several minutes detailing instances of abuse and violence discussed during the trial and addressed R. Kelly directly about what he did to his victims.
“These crimes were calculated and carefully planned and regularly executed for almost 25 years,” she said. “You taught them that love is enslavement and violence.” Reports show that prosecutors asked the judge to sentence R. Kelly to more than 25 years behind bars during sentencing, citing “the need to protect the public from further crimes.”
According to TMZ, documents show that the judge has ordered the troubled singer to take mental health treatment, which includes therapy for an unspecified sexual disorder. He will also be ordered to stay away from anyone that is under the age of 18. He will also be ordered to inform anyone choosing to live with him that he is a sex offender.
