Kodi Lee, 22, had the ultimate experience on NBC’s America’s Got Talent as his performance was met with a standing ovation as he received the first golden buzzer of season 14.
Kodi, who is blind and autistic, was escorted on to the stage by his mother, as she introduced him to America and the show’s judges. During his introduction, she said, “We found out that he loved music really early on. Through music and performing, he was able to withstand living in this world. Because when you’re autistic, it’s really hard to do what everyone else does. It actually has saved his life, playing music.”
His mother gave him a little pep talk before his performance, and Kodi amazed the crowd with his vocals and piano playing skills as he covered Donny Hathaway’s “A Song For You.”
Following his performance, the judges raved about his performance, but it was Gabrielle Union, who made the decision to give Kody the golden buzzer, which advances him straight to the live show in Hollywood.
