The success of “Black Panther,” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” has led Marvel Comics to start the development of its next comic books series.
According to Bustle, Marvel revealed that a new standalone comic about Black Panther’s sister Shuri is in the works. The new comic series will be available in October 2018 and will explore Shuri’s dilemma of choosing between helping to rule Wakanda or working in her lab.
According to Marvel’s official synopsis, “Shuri is happiest in a lab, surrounded by gadgets of her own creation. She’d rather be testing gauntlets than throwing them. But a nation without a leader is a vulnerable one — and Shuri may have to choose between Wakanda’s welfare and her own.”
Leonardo Romero will work on the comic’s art, while Nnedi Okorafor will write the series.
Okorafor said, “[Shuri is] an African young woman of genius level intelligence who is obsessed with technology and has traveled spiritually so far into the past that she’s seen Wakanda before it was Wakanda. The Ancestors call her Ancient Future. And she’s super ambitious. What do I love about her? Alllll that and more. She’s a character in the Marvel Universe who really sings to me.”
As many of you know, actress Letitia Wright took on the role of Shuri in the “Black Panther” film, which contributed to the character’s popularity.
Roommates, are you here for Shur’s new comic book series?
