UCLA gymnast Nia Dennis let her Black girl magic shine, as she performed her Beyonce’ inspired floor-routine. The 21-year-old junior had us all saying, “You better werk!” While she reminded the world, Black girls can do anythang!
Servin’ us majorette vibes mixed in with the “Woah” dance, along with tumbling skills, the Columbus Ohio native received a 9.975 out of the 10.000 for her skills.
According CBS Sports, this isn’t the first time that Dennis went viral. She also went viral in 2018.
“Naturally, this isn’t the first time that Dennis has made viral rounds for her routine. Back in 2018, she famously had a routine that included her spelling her name in the air with her finger….”
According to Hollywood Life, sis is already an awarded gymnast. “The young gymnast already has a slew of medals to her name. At the 2014 Pacific Rim Championships, Nia and her team earned a gold medal for their team efforts, while Nia earned two individual silver medals for All-Around and for Vault. At the 2013 U.S. Classic, Nia won a gold medal for Vault and a silver for her Floor routine. In 2018, her UCLA team won the gold and in 2019 their team won the bronze medal at the NCAA tournament, respectively.”
Her personality reminds me of USA Gold Medalist Simon Biles. With her bright smile and full of spunk energy, it’s clear that Black girl magic is spread throughout gymnastics. It’s only a matter of time before Nia will be competing in the olympics one day, if that’s we she chooses to do. If she does, we’ll still be saying, “You better werk!”
Listen, we love it! Go ‘head, Nia. You got it!
