Respected black business leader Mellody Hobson is moving up at Starbucks.
Black Enterprise reports she’ll take on the role as vice chair of the popular Starbucks chain when longtime chairman Howard Schultz steps down at the end of this month. She currently serves as one of the board’s directors.
The change adds to the movement in placing more black women and men in higher positions and roles at these multi-million dollar companies, especially after the onslaught of criticism Starbucks received this year following the arrest of two black men at one of their Philadelphia stores.
